EXCLUSIVE EVENT AT ICG GALLERY IN BERLIN: ART, INNOVATION, AND GASTRONOMY AT THE BERLIN FOOD WEEK

On October 10, 2024, the ICG Gallery in Berlin hosted “TRACES & FLAVOURS” an unforgettable evening dedicated to showcasing the eco-active ceramic surfaces Active Surfaces®, which were the centerpiece of a performative dinner curated by artist and designer Idan Gilony. The event, part of the official BERLIN FOOD WEEK schedule, blended the cutting-edge innovation of Iris Ceramica Group's surfaces with a unique gastronomic and artistic experience, merging art, design, and technology in an exclusive setting.

A culinary performance journey, divided into five sequences, led guests through a surprising gastronomic experience. It began with a welcome drink in the bar area set up at the entrance, designed to greet attendees in a relaxed atmosphere. This was followed by a brief introductory tasting that piqued culinary curiosity and invited sensory exploration. The third sequence transformed a large white table, made with Active Surfaces®, into an artist's canvas. On it, the food was arranged spontaneously and creatively, inviting guests to serve themselves directly from the table. This not only encouraged interaction among participants but also direct engagement with the chef. Tasting food thus became an artistic experience, where every gesture contributed to an ever-evolving collective culinary composition, making the moment dynamic and unique. Next, the main course was served on individual plates, also made with Active Surfaces®, highlighting the material’s elegance and versatility. The event concluded with an impressive cake served on a SapienStone kitchen countertop, which was also antibacterial. Guests were able to serve themselves freely using spoons, creating their own plates interactively.

Active Surfaces® not only impressed with their contemporary aesthetic but also demonstrated their remarkable functional capabilities. Certified by the BELAC Institute for food contact, these surfaces are antibacterial and antiviral, offering the highest hygienic standards, ideal for both professional and domestic kitchens. Their safety and versatility were put to the test during the evening, with food served directly on the ceramic surfaces. Architects, designers, and industry professionals attending the event had the opportunity to experience firsthand the innovative potential of these cutting-edge solutions, which are also ideal for the HORECA sector.

The ICG Gallery in Berlin, conceived as a meeting point between art and technology, proved to be the perfect setting to highlight the endless possibilities offered by the ceramic surfaces of Iris Ceramica Group’s Brands. Set within the prestigious context of BERLIN FOOD WEEK, the event confirmed the company’s ability to redefine the standards of architecture and design through materials that combine aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability.
